Markus Bühler
German, 1984–present
Markus Bühler is a Berlin based artist, actor and filmmaker who thrives on sediments and fragments of realities. He loves to explore and create characters, images, spaces and atmospheres. Sometimes serious, sometimes lightweight, yet always dense and done with dedication, virtuosity and a sense of humor. His work is driven by analytic and operative precision, often based on found narratives of varying media. He moves on the interface of image and space, densifiying atmospheres, creating other realities, mashed up between trivia, decay and obsession. His works have been awarded numerous awards, such as INITIAL2 scholarship by Akademie der Künste Berlin, MAK Schindler Residency by MAK Center Los Angeles and Elsa-Neumann-Scholarship by the State of Berlin. They are shown in international exhibitions such as Trienal de Lisboa, DOKFEST Kassel and various galleries and exhibition spaces. He teaches film & performance at University of the Arts Berlin.
