Stefan Rutzinger / Group XXVII, Oct 08 - Mar 09

FINAL PROJECTS

3/14/09 to 3/15/09

MAK Center for Art and Architecture L.A. at the Schindler House, 835 North Kings Road, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Stefan Rutzinger and Kristina Schinegger's Final Project was part of their ongoing investigation into the application of aggregation processes to architecture. Based on simple geometrical rules, aggregations produce complex spatial configuration, peculiarities and even "failures". Schinegger and Rutzinger were especially interested in the aggregation processes of anorganic materials such as snow, dust or the growth of corals and how to apply their aggregation logics to the design process on a "molecular" level through scripting. The architects displayed the outcomes of their research in 3-D plotted models and drawings, as well as an object that applied their research in an architectural context.
