FINAL PROJECTS: GROUP XXXII

9/9/11 to 9/11/11

MAK Center for Art and Architecture at the Schindler House, 835 N. Kings Rd, West Hollywood

Architects Gregor Holzinger, Florian Schafschetzy and Eva Sommeregger rigorously documented and simulated the car traveler's experience of moving through the infrastructural landscapes of the American West. The auto passenger's skewed and speedup experience of landscape was recreated in their installation inside the house and in the Schindler House driveway, designed to allow viewers to select their different points of focus as they "traveled" through locations like Rio Vista, a failed exuburban development where streets, sewers, and signage are all in place - but buildings are absent, still waiting to be developed.
