Architect Anton Savov's guiding principle is "See architecture as events and not walls." His project, Box in a Cloud, generated a crowd-sourced design for a hypothetical 1000 to 1500-people inhabitable environment in Los Angeles. The architect believes that participatory design is key to producing spaces capable of housing contemporary "nomadic" lifestyles. Through an online interface boxinacloud.com, Box in a Cloud participants can refine the inhabitable "cloud" in real-time by setting up specific purposes for their "box". The result is fed back simultaneously in 3D to all participants. A computer terminal allowed exhibition visitors to contribute to designing efforts and two live perspectival projections demonstrated the process by which the "cloud" grew and developed. A take-away pamphlet shared the project's concepts and intentions, as well as information on how to join in.
